THANKSGIVING IN ADIRE

THANKSGIVING IN ADIRE - African Inspired: Mermaid Style Dress with Adire Fabric
We had our End-of-The-Year Thanksgiving Service in my church yesterday and we were required to wear traditional attires.

THANKSGIVING IN ADIRE - African Inspired: Mermaid Style Dress with Adire Fabric
I was gifted this gorgeous Adire fabric by my former senior colleague at the office months ago.
I had the fabric cut up to be sewn with the help of my sewing tutor almost immediately I got it but never got around to sewing it until last week.
I made a strapless top and a mermaid style skirt and added tiny straps at the last minute for a lil cold shoulder effect. Y'all know mermaid style pieces are my fav!

Adire is an African fabric made by the Yorubas in Nigeria using Tie-Dye technique.Twas originally made in indigo colors but have been diversified into various beautiful colors. I think candle wax was also used in designing my fabric.
I'm into African Prints now and can't wait to try out different styles.
