DIY Cold Shoulder Top

Y'all know I'm a huge fan of the Cold Shoulder Trend.

I've styled the trend Here and Here
I made the Ankara Cold Shoulder Top myself so I decided to do a mini tutorial on how to make it.
It takes me about 5 mins to do this cos its quite easy and literally anyone can do this.

Let's get started...

You'll need...
Fabric - 1 yard ( Fabric Available HERE)
Elastic band
Measuring tape
Scissors
Chalk
Thread & Needle / Sewing machine

 1. Fold your fabric into 4 (fold it twice)
I cut my fabric into a square-like shape so its easier to get equal parts.

2.Take your tape and measure from the apex of the folded fabric.
The width around my shoulder was  40" and from my calculation, I was to measure 6" around the tip of the fabric (the goal is to get 1/4 of the width of my shoulder when the tape is taken round the apex).
But I measured 5 1/2" cos I wanted the top to fit tightly around my shoulders.

 3. Make markings with your chalk round the tip of the fabric using same measurement.

4. Connect the dots to form a quarter of a circle.

5. Use your scissors to cut of the tip of the fabric.

6. Repeat the steps above using the measurement for the length of your top.
I used 13" as my measurement.

7. Cut out the fabric with your scissors.

I try to cut the edges as neatly as I can cos I don't fold the edges and sew it up. I leave it the way it is cos folding it take too much time and ends up not looking as neat as I'd like (I'm lazy, no shame)

8. This is what your top should look like when you open it up.

9. Join the 2 ends of your elastic band using a needle and thread or sewing machine.
I used a 25" length of elastic band cos I wanted a snug fit.

10. Put the elastic band at the edge of the fabric, fold over and stitch it up with your needle & thread or run with a sewing machine.
I used a sewing machine.
Ensure not to sew across the elastic as its supposed to be moveable.

11. Close it up completely.
And voila, you're all done!

  5. Very straight to the point and I see that this method could work for a skirt to. I'm still confused though, is it that you divided 40 by 1/4?
