MY ESSENTIALS - MARCH

My essentials for the month of March.

1. SILVER HOOP EARRINGS
Silver hoops were the first big earrings I wore as a teenager. Like, I went from wearing stud earrings to huge 'Channel O' earrings and I haven't stopped wearing them ever since (even wearing it right now). I used to have both gold and silver hoops, but I lost the gold ones a long time ago and haven't replaced it ever since.
I wear this silver hoops everyday and anywhere except on very rare occasions when I swap them for any of the other earrings I own.
I'd love to believe that they go with just about any outfit, lol. This has got to be my one of my top 3 essentials ever!

2. BEN NYE FINAL SEAL
I try to avoid  using too many chemical products on my face cos I don't know how my skin would react (I always freak out when I see even a tiny break out on my face). So I kept my products usage to a minimum and stuck to the basics (foundation & powder). I only recently started using concealer and now I've taken another step forward.... Setting Spray.
This is a professional level setting spray from Ben Nye. I  use this to set make up I REALLY do not want to budge especially on those days I plan to wear make-up the whole day. I try to minimize how often I use it (not more than twice a week). It does have a very strong minty smell and a hint of alcohol, however it is meant to be smudge proof and sweat proof so it’s a more heavy duty product than your every day setting spray.
Wearing make-up under this hot Naija sun can be very frustrating and you'd end up looking like you've been in a fight at the end of the day. But this setting spray helps keep my make up intact, even though its not sweat proof as it claims. Taking off my make-up at the end of the day takes more effort than before cos everything's been sealed it.

Next stop.. Face Primer :D

3. DAVIS BROWN EYE PENCIL
This isn't a new product for my Naija girls. You can get it from your nearest 'aboki' abi 'mallam' for N100 (used to be N50 but dollar rise has affected everything).
This pencil is everything!
I started using years back in uni when we were still figuring out what make up was really about. But as time went by, I started feeling 'too fresh' for the N50 pencil so I tried out more expensive pencils, brow definers etc. After running around, I still came back to this pencil. I use the No. 18.
I always have at least two of this pencil cos I use it alot. Drawing n filling in my brows and lining my lips with it (whether I'm wearing red or nude lipstick), I might even try to use it to contour, lol.
There are lots of fakes in the market so look out for a silver seal at the end of the pencil, that's the original one.

4. COCONUT OIL
If I begin to list out the numerous uses of coconut oil, it would run into a full post on its own.
I mix it with shea butter and use it for my hair.
I also apply it on my skin after a night bath (only when the weather isn't crazy hot).

Which of these items can be considered an essential to you?

  5. Wearing makeup in Naija, the struggle is real. 10years ago when I visited, omg it was impossible. Never tried the Ben Nye setting spray but I love the Ben Nye banana powder. Really great product. Coconut oil is everything.
