TREND ALERT - MIXED PRINTS

Mixing prints is a current trend that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
I suppose that mixed prints, along with any new trend, can be intimidating at first, but it’s actually a simple and fun trend to wear.
When done right, this amazing trend allows you to maximize your closet, feel more confident in color, and shop skillfully for your wardrobe. Not to mention, it adds an instant chic factor to every outfit you strut.

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO ROCKING THIS TREND.

One easy way to mix prints is to pair one neutral print with a louder, more colorful one.  And by neutral, we mean any print made up of earthy, neutral tones. Think shades of black, white, brown, and green.  Neutral colored geometric and abstract patterns work wonders for this rule, and what we also love is that animal prints like leopard and zebra prints also count as neutrals, as do metallics, which means these show-stoppers go with EVERYTHING!

Animal on animal - Wearing two types of animal prints together might not seem like a good idea at first but the secret to making it look modern is to wear one in a realistic print and the other in a more artful, graphic way.

Stick to the same color family. Make sure one color repeats in every piece of the outfit (for example, navy paisley with navy, red, and white plaid). Color is a great connector for two varying prints.

Combine loose prints with structured prints (like swirls with stripes). Treat stripes as neutral. Stripes act as a neutral that plays off bolder and louder pattern well. You can combine stripes with florals, polka dots, graphic prints, animal prints and more.

Dainty florals and soft, hazy stripes are comfy, cozy, and ladylike yet laid-back ... which explains why they go so well together. Look for a floral print that's a little more colorful and stripes in a neutral tone for maximum match.

Don’t loose sight of the fit/balance of your clothing. It’s still important!

When finishing your mixed print look remember to keep your accessories and styling simple. Your outfit is already crazy enough so let this be your chance to experiment with sleek metal pieces and minimalist hair styles.  Also, consider wearing a belt to block off the prints in your top and bottom.

Experiment and try new looks. Anything goes with mixed prints!

I fully intend to practice what I preach, would give this mixed print trend a shot.
