Guess who tied gele to church?!
Me! lol!
On Friday, while my mum was rummaging through her box to get wrapper for my baby brother to use for his cultural day in school, my sister quickly picked up this beautiful wrapper and suggested we tie them to church on Sunday.
And I was like, 'Of course, yea'.
Truth be told, I didn't have strength to start 'Ultimate Search' for what to wear.
I know that this isn't the traditional way of tying wrapper, at least for the Ibos.
But I just had one wrapper to work with, besides who does things the usual way these days?
It took me almost an hour to figure out a way to tie this gele in a way I wouldn't block the view of the people sitting behind me in church and also ensuring it wouldn't fall off (yup, I tied the scarf myself!)
My sister actually did a better job with her gele.

A big shout out to all our mothers that tie gele to church every Sunday.
Much respect!
My mum can be walking outta her room with her bag under her arm and she's tying the gele while heading out to her car. I used to think, 'this doesn't seem hard at all'
Trust me, it ain't easy!

Check out my cute sissy
We got alotta stares and lots of nice compliments in church. A man even walked up to us and sprayed us money. Another gave my a mum a hand shake for making us proud of our African culture. (Na so!
Its kinna unusual for young unmarried ladies to dress all 'mummy-ish' on a Sunday.
This gele and wrapper attire seem to be reserved for Traditional Weddings and Occasions but we pulled this off anyway!

Ciao darlings!

When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.
We however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the field God has assigned to us, a field that reaches even to you"
